Abstract:
This paper analyzes several transmission length equations and build-up of prestress equations. To know the transmission length is particularly important to determine the behaviour of the member under shear force and under the tensile stress that appears at transfer zone, and especially in the case of members with no transverse reinforcement. Build-up of prestress takes part in both situations. Among the reference codes and standards, only Eurocode 2 has an article about non- linear build-up of prestress: alternative build-up of prestress may be assumed if justifi ed, and if the transmission length is modifi ed accordingly. This paper proposes a procedure in response to the requirements of the Eurocode.
