Abstract:
In 2007, the Tuolumne River Bridge on California State Road 120 was renamed the James E. Roberts Memorial Bridge, in honor of Roberts’ distinguished career with the California Department of Highways and the California Department of Transportation. The bridge was one of the first projects for which Roberts was assigned responsibility. Construction of the bridge was completed in 1971. The bridge comprises hexagonal piers with flared top sections, curved steel girders, and a lightweight composite deck.
