Abstract:
An alternative method for calculating the P-delta effect of prestressed members subjected to applied axial load and bending moments is introduced. The method is an extension of a recently proposed P-delta approach for sway structures designed to load and resistance factor principles. A number of examples are used to illustrate the new technique.
