Abstract:The Port of Vancouver, Canada, is the owner of one of the world's newest and most unique heliports. This state-of-the-art floating facility is constructed from styrofoam-filled cellular concrete. The analysis and design of the structure is developed in this paper. Some of the interesting aspects of construction are highlighted and the economic benefits of this use of reinforced concrete are discussed.
