This paper is presented in two parts. Part 1 describes the theoretical part of an investigation into the behavior and strength of rectangular reinforced concrete beams subjected to combined bending and torsion. It reflects the actual trends of the variation of torsional strength of reinforced concrete beams arising from the presence of bending moments. Part 2 reports on tests of 14 reinforced concrete beams of 6x12-in. nominal cross-section.
