Abstract:Coatings are sometimes considered for steel that is to be embedded in concrete when the structures will be exposed to moderately or highly corrosive conditions. There are numerous benefits possible by the addition of a protective coating to the steel, as well as several disadvantages. The desirability of use of a coating is open to serious question.
