Title: Effect of Aggregate Grading on Parameters of Deflection of Concrete Structures
Author(s): Shu-T'ien Li and V. Ramakrishnan
Publication: Special Publication
Appears on pages(s): 295-314
Keywords: aggregate gradation; cement pastes; creep properties; creep recovery; deflection; flexural strength; gap-graded aggregate; modulus of elasticity; prestressed concrete; reinforced concrete; shrinkage; static loads; void-cement ratio; water-cement ratio
Abstract:The appearance of modulus of elasticity of concrete in the denominator of deflection formulas for reinforced and prestressed concrete structures, and the adverse effect of creep on deflections have convincingly hinted engineers to seek a concrete of high Ec and low creep to minimize deflections.
