Abstract:
The new reservoir, which will be created by the construction of the Aziscohos Dam, will be a unit in the comprehensive system of water storage which has been developed at the head waters of the Androscoggin River. The scope of this paper will not permit a detailed description of the entire storage project; but it is necessary, for a thorough understanding of the subject in hand, that a brief history be given of the original enterprise and its relation to the work now in progress, which this paper purports to describe. For convenience of presentation it will be subdivided into six general headings which will be discussed in the order named, as follows: 1. History 2. Organization 3. Transportation 4. Design 5. Logging 6. Construction
