Title: Resistance of Concrete and Protective Coatings to Forces of Cavitation

Abstract:Amachine used for producing cavitation erosion in the lavratory is described and the results of tests made to investigate the effort of mix proportions, surface treatment, and protective coatings on the resistanceof concrete to cavitation are discussed. Through proper use of these, the resistance of concrete surfaces to cavitation erosion may be extended three or four times, but even the best concrete will not resist the forces of cavitation for a prolonged period. Heavy rubber coatings bonded well to the surface of the concrete have proved effective.
