Abstract: Experimental data are presented on failure of concrete under combined tensile and compressive stresses. A simple stress-ratio equation, based upon ultimate compressive strength and modulus of rupture, shows a remarkable correlation with experimental data for various combinations of tensile and compressive stresses.
