Abstract: A simple expression for total strain (elastic plus creep) is given. The equation for the total strain is then used in determining the loss of stress in the prestressed beams due to creep of concrete. Resulting analysis indicates that the losses in the prestressed beams may be calculated if the variation of modulus of elasticity of concrete with time and the creep equation of concrete are known.
