Title: Proportioning and Evaulation of Concrete Mixtures*
Author(s): William A. Cordon and J. Derle Thorpe
Publication: Journal Proceedings
Appears on pages(s): 46-49
Keywords: admixtures; aggregates;economics; evaluation; mixed proportioning; quality control;water-cement ratio; workablity.
Abstract:Commom practice in concrete mix proportioning and control relates the consistancy of concrete, as measured by slump, with water requirement. A more realistic approach ids to relate slump with aggregate content, keeping the water and cement fixed constants in trial mixes. The amount of aggregate that can be used with a given quantatity of paste provides a realistic evaluation of the value of compariative proportions of materials used.
