Abstract:
A laboratory test program on abrasion resistance of concrete, including the development of a new underwater abrasion test method, is described. The test program was designed to evaluate the relative abrasion resistance of various materials considered for use in the repair of a brasion-damaged concrete structures. Variables incorporated in this study were aggregate type, water-cement ratio and hence compressive strength of the concrete, and treatment of surfaces of the concrete test specimens. Based on the test data obtained, a comprehensive evaluation of the effects of various parameters on the abrasion resistance of concrete is presented, Material suitable for use in the repair of abrasion-damaged concrete structures is recommended.
