Abstract:
Recent literature relating to pressure exerted on vertical form faces by freshly placed concrete is reviewed, and a theoretical basis is presented to relate form pressure calculations to fundamental rheological properties. Published lateral measured pressures are compared with values predicted by the accepted ACI 347 method and by a recently proposed equation. The proposed equation is shown to be statistically more reliable and to have wider applicability than does the ACI 347 method.
