Committee Mission: Develop and report information on creep and shrinkage of concrete and concrete structures.
Goals: 1) Complete and publish a new report Analysis of Creep and Shrinkage Effects in Concrete Structures already approved at 90% by the committee; 2) Update the document Report on Factors Affecting Shrinkage and Creep of Hardened Concrete (ACI 209.1R-05); 3) Provide information to the users on the limitations of the models included in "Guide for Modeling and Calculating Shrinkage and Creep in Hardened Concrete" (ACI209.2R-08) and their predictions, the variability of testing conditions, and test results and provide means and methodology to calibrate models to fit test data; 4) Consider for future documents: a) shrinkage and creep of new materials, e.g. self-consolidating concrete; b) calibration and updating shrinkage and creep models; c) early-age effects of shrinkage and creep; d) evaluation of new creep and shrinkage models; e) predicting long-term creep and shrinkage from short-term data; f)establishment of profession oriented guidesline for 3D time-dependent numerical analysis of creep effects in concrete structures based on rate-type creep laws; thses guidelines should enable professional engineers to establish adequate computational procedures and programs and/or to use with adequate understanding of commercial software programs based on these guidelines.
