Abstract:
Many observers of ancient architecture are struck by the vast difference in quality between original structures and more recent repairs. Recent studies have attempted to determine why ancient mortars and concretes are so much more durable than their modern counterparts. Many of these materials have been found to be geopolymeric concrete that has been replicated and may prove to be an appropriate concrete for many modern purposes.
