Abstract:
Studies the ultimate stress behavior of prestressed concrete thin-walled open sections under combined actions. A method to construct interaction surfaces based on the theory of "limit planes" is proposed. The results obtained with a computer program developed for I-beams are also presented. Based on the numerical results, a design formula is proposed for reinforced and prestressed concrete I-members subjected to axial compression, or to tension, biaxial bending, and bimoment. Finally, a numerical example is illustrated and comparisons with test results are presented.
