Abstract:
An extensive study of the improvement in concrete performance associated with the addition of high reactivity metakaolin (HRM), a mineral admixture, was performed. The testing study focused on "realcrete," produced in a ready-mix batch plant as opposed to a controlled laboratory study. HRM performs similarly to silica fume, and HRM required less high-range water reducer which seemed to improve the texture of the fresh concrete.
