Abstract:
Fully fastened haunch retrofit solution (FFHRS) has been proven to be an efficient and effective retrofitting technique to safeguard the beam-column joints by modifying the hierarchy of strength converting the undesirable joint shear failure mode to a desirable beam flexure failure mode. Experiments at joint subassemblies under cyclic loads, as well as frame structures under dynamic loads, have proven the efficacy of the system. In this paper, a numerical model to assess the inelastic seismic behavior of the joints retrofitted with FFHRS has been presented. The model gives due consideration to the inelastic behavior of the post-installed anchors used to connect the haunch elements to the members (beams and columns), along with the inelastic behavior of members and joint core. The assumptions and model parameters are discussed in detail, and the model is validated against experiments at the subassembly and frame level.
