Advancements in Anchoring to Concrete Construction

November 3, 2024 to November 7, 2024

Marriott Philadelphia Downtown
Philadelphia , PA   United States
Sponsor(s): ACI Committees 355 lead, 318B, and 349C

Description:
Meeting: “Advancements in Anchoring to Concrete Construction – Commemorating the lifetime contributions of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Rolf Eligehausen” at the ACI Concrete Convention – Fall 2024 in Philadelphia, PA, USA; sponsored by ACI Committee 355, Anchorage to Concrete, and ACI Subcommittees 318-B, Anchorage and Reinforcement, and 349-C, Nuclear Structures-Anchorage.

Solicited: Rolf Eligehausen is a name synonymous with anchorage to concrete and bond, and his research contributions for the last 50 years have been paramount to advancing the state of the art in anchorage technology. This symposium will recognize and celebrate the extraordinary contributions of Eligehausen in the field of anchorages in concrete construction.
A well-performing concrete anchorage (fastening) is essential to assure the interaction between the attachment connected to the structure and the base structure itself. Over the past four decades, anchor technology has seen continuing advancements through research studies, but the potential still exists to enhance the knowledge in this field. With the advancement in production technologies and materials, new post-installed anchor products, anchor channels, high-strength deformed reinforcing bars, and nonmetallic deformed reinforcement continue to be explored and developed for design code inclusion.
Practical and innovative solutions are needed for connections in real-life situations, and correspondingly reliable design models are desired. The current anchorage design models work for many of the design cases; however, there are limitations in the scope of the current design provisions, and many other design cases still need to be addressed. For example, models developed for “small” anchorages are being applied to large anchor assemblies without full vetting and reliability studies. Likewise, the design methods and models for concrete anchors and anchorage of deformed reinforcing bars need to be harmonized.
This symposium and the proposed peer-reviewed Special Publication (SP) will target several current issues on the topic of anchorage to concrete. This SP is anticipated to provide a reference document for the present state of the art.

Requirements: 1) presentation title; 2) author(s) name, affiliation, mailing address, and email; and 3) abstract no more than 200 words. Abstracts should be emailed to both moderators with the email subject: Abstract for Eligehausen
Symposium – ACI Fall 2024.

Deadline: Abstracts are due by February 16, 2024, and final papers are due by May 17, 2024.
