Abstract:
Bond deterioration due to deicer salt and freezing-thawing cycles is a major cause of repair failures to highway pavements and bridge decks. This research used a pulloff test to examine how combined deicer salt application and freezing-thawing cycles affected the bond between portland cement concrete and two rapid-setting repair materials. Variables included curing conditions, age, and combined freezing-thawing cycles with deicer application. Surface deterioration of each repair material was monitored.
