Description

As part of concrete construction under hot weather conditions, contractors and concrete producers are faced with the challenge of protecting concrete from potentially high temperatures, loss of moisture, and rapid workability loss that can affect behavior of fresh concrete during production, delivery, and placement operations. This presentation will cover best practices and examples from projects where pre-cooling measures, moisture controls, mixture adjustments, and admixture technologies have been implemented to reduce adverse effects to the concrete under hot, drying conditions. Case studies from large infrastructure projects in North America will be shown to describe different cost-effective ways to improve constructibility of field operations in hot weather.
