Learning Objectives:

1. Review the design considerations for foundations for dynamic equipment;

2. Understand the variation in loads that machine foundations may be subjected to due to significant dynamic loads during operation, in addition to normal design loads;

3. Recognize the vibration performance criteria and the four zones identifies by ISO 10816-1 defined by the magnitude of vibration measured; and

4. Discuss the differences between the two main machine-mounting systems (anchorage-type of isolator-type) and understand the performance criteria for each system.
