Abstract:
Some of the earliest uses of cement and concrete were in a marine environment, from the Eddystone Lighthouse to Lambot’s boats. Even long before this, the Romans used pozzolanic concrete for their marine structures. However, it was only in the latter part of this century that reinforced and prestressed concrete have become the dominant material for marine construction.
