Abstract:
On July 11, 1989, the Grout Treatment Facility, a treatment and disposal facility for liquid low-level radioactive defense tank wastes, completed processing the first million gallons of waste at the Hanford Site. Completion of this first campaign marked the culmination of five years of development, testing, de-sign, and construction that is now leading to the safe, permanent disposal of the low-level portion of Hanford Site defense tank wastes.
