Abstract:This article presents the results of a research project aimed at identifying mineral admixtures for potential replacement of silica fume in dry-mix shotcrete. The results showed that Type C fly ash gave the best results in terms of shotcrete properties. Length-change measurements indicated shrinkage can be significantly reduced when fly ash is used. Good compressive strengths and low absorption were obtained with the fly-ash mixtures.
