Abstract:
While the safety of a structure is taken for granted and its economy is appreciated by only a few, the visual appearance will influence millions of people for many generations. It is essential that a structure should add grace and beauty to improve the quality of life for those who use it, live next to it, or pass by it. Concrete can be made to look good and designed to stay that way by exposing the aggregate. Some of the advantages of exposed aggregate and comparisons to smooth concrete are outlined. [Author]
