Abstract:
The results of the tests of 44 beams of reinforced concrete with stirrups welded to the longtitudinal reinforcement are presented. The beams were de-signed in such a way as to produce failure by diagonal tension. Variables including the size and inclinaation of the stirrups, type of concrete and ratio of longitudinal reinforcement are studied. A comparison of the strength of welded stirrups with that of loose stirrups, as reported from former tests on web re-inforcement, is attempted.
