Abstract:
An analysis, using average current prices of concrete and steel, of savings to be effected by the use of high strength concrete in building construction. Studies of beams, footings areslabs, flat slabs, columns, and included. Considerable savings are theoretically possible in columns, smaller savings in flexural members, except as dead load can be reduced. While the greatest savings could be effected by using high strength concrete and higher steel stresses, the undesirability of the latter is discussed.
