Abstract:
Construction of the Mammoth Pool Power Tunnel provided an excellent opportunity for obtaining concrete at a minimum cost with maximum use of local materials. The combination of an owner operated aggregate plant and a cooperative contractor made possible the achievement of minimum cost concrete. Satisfactory 2000 psi concrete in the tunnel invert was produced from crushed aggregate using as little as 325 lb of cement per cu yd.
