Title: Steady State Thermal Stresses in Rigid Frames
Author(s): Joseph J. Gennaro
Publication: Journal Proceedings
Appears on pages(s): 773-782
Abstract:A method is developed for finding the moments and stresses developed in beams and rigid frames subject to linear variations of temperature between the lower and upper edges of the beam. Tables are given which enable the designer to easily compute moments and stresses for a variety of single span symmetric frames with hinged supports. Tables are limited to frames with members of constant cross section but the general method of analysis can be extended to frames with members of variable cross section.
