Abstract:
The structural design of concrete overlay pavements is illustrated by applying a specific method of design to the evaluation of the results of traffic loadings on full-scale concrete overlay test pavements. Traffic loadings varied from 60,000 lb on a single wheel to 395,000 twin-tandem wheel configuration. Results of these loadings on 11 different overlay test items are described and used in the evaluation, and the relationship between the design requirement and the evaluation is discussed.
