Abstract:
Rectangular concrete beams were tested to destruction under combined bending and torsional loads. The beams contained both longitudinal and transverse reinforcement, and concrete strength, amount and spacing of reinforcement, and moment-torque ratios were varied. A theoretical model was developed from the observed failure mechanisms and was used to check the results of these tests and also the results of other tests reported in the-literature.
