Title: Shear Strength of Reinforced Concrete Beams at Points of Bar Cutoff
Author(s): Mark J. Baron
Publication: Journal Proceedings
Appears on pages(s): 127-134
Keywords: bar cutoff;beam;reinforced concrete;research;shear strength.
Abstract:The shear strength of a beam is decreased at a location where tensile steel is cut off. Test results are presented in which the addition of tensile steel terminated in the shear span resulted in reduced load capacity. The use of a bent bar instead of stopped bars was found to have no such ill effect.
