Abstract:
A method is presented for determining the behavior, to failure, of a reinforced concrete arch. The response of the structure is obtained by superimposing nonlinear elastic analyses for successive, small increments of loading. The properties of each cross section of the arch, including the position of the bending axis, are reevaluated for every in-crement of loading, using a trial and error technique. A large digital computer was used to obtain numerical results.
