Abstract:Concrete cubes were axially loaded in uniaxial and triaxial compressive loads separately. Slices were made from the strained specimen and these were examined for internal cracks using a microscope. By comparison of the internal microcracks in the two loading conditions an attempt has been made to explain the increase in the strength of concrete under triaxial compression.
