Abstract:
Eight pretensioned concrete beams were subjected to repetitions of highly impulsive load until the occurrence of a compressive failure. The number of applications of the dynamic load varied from five to seven. The results of this study indicated that the calculated ultimate static load is a satisfactory design criterion for a beam subjected to a low number of blast-type loadings. Bond failure does not appear to be a critical factor.
