Abstract:
Results of studies performed on fifty, 100 day old, plain concrete prisms are presented. These prisms were used as unloaded companion specimens to determine the shrinkage characteristics of the concrete used in another study. Since these shrinkage specimens exhibited a zero rate of shrinkage at I 100 days and were essential1 preshrunk, they should on loading exhibit on the basic creep. Observed creep strains obtained by loading these preshrunk specimens were much less than those observed by Kesler and Ali. An explanation for these observed differences is offered.
