Abstract:
The effect of repeated loads on the fatigue strength of plain concrete, cement mortar, and paste in uniaxial compression was investigated. Fatigue tests on prismatic specimens of concrete and its constituents exhibited essentially the same fatigue characteristics. The deformation studies indicated that the instantaneously recoverable elastic strains, with a limiting value towards failure in static and fatigue tests could serve as a macroscopic failure criterion.
