Abstract:
Comprehensive investigation of the many factors affecting within-batch homogeneity of transit mixed concrete. Paper reports first phase of 3-year study, quantitative data from over 200 batches. Ribbon-loading resulted in less within-batch variability than 2-stop batching, but satis-factory results found obtainable from either under con-trolled conditions. Study considered factors such as mixer capacity, drum speed, loading methods.
