Abstract:
Most precast concrete staves for stave tower silos are consolidated by the application of high pressure in the press used for manufacturing these units. This research attempts to discover whether or not this process has a significant effect on the drying shrinkage characteristic of the concrete. The drying shrinkage of three concrete staves was monitored for about a year. The results indicate that the established prediction equations suffice for estimating the shrinkage strain of pressed concrete staves.
