Abstract:
Experimental results for creep and shrinkage of a typical bridge-building concrete are presented for specimens kept inside a laboratory and on top of, inside, and underneath a concrete box girder bridge. The environment is shown to have considerable effect on creep and shrinkage but it is concluded that location at the bridge was relatively unimportant. Code predictions of creep and shrinkage were close to experimental values provided that a suitable value of relative humidity was chosen.
