Abstract:The author makes a comparison of alternate methods permitted by "Recommended Practice for Design and Construction of Concrete Bins, Silos, and Bunkers for Storing Granular Materials (AC1 313-77)" for calculating pressures in the hopper portion of deep and shallow bins. It is the author’s intention to draw attention to the limitation of some of these methods so that the user may exercise caution in their use.
