Title: Mechanisms of Expansion Due to Delayed Ettringite Formation
Author(s): Benjamin J. Mohr
Publication: Web Session (Outdated)
Appears on pages(s):
Keywords: durability, expansion, DEF, delayed ettringite formation
Abstract:Concrete durability is often examined one mechanism at a time. For example, freezing-and-thawing attack could be examined or alkali-silica reaction could be examined. But natural exposure conditions can simultaneously subject concrete to multiple attack mechanisms, which can result in a more severe attack than if the mechanisms were evaluated separately. This sessions will present information on the combined effects of different durability mechanisms that could be present at the same time in actual concrete installations.
