Abstract:
Optimisation problem of slabs on elastic Winkler base is presented, taking into consideration strength conditions according to Bałandin-Stassi d'Alia and Mohr hypotheses. Basing on the results of computer simulation, safe thickness of slab was determined depending on the length of its side, for the assumed loading schemes. An example empirical formula was proposed as a function of five variables, allowing the preliminary calculation to be made of optimum span of concrete pavement slab at assumed slab thickness, temperature gradient, base reaction coefficient, grade of concrete and external load.
