Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to assess the applicability of different code rules for the design of headed and double-headed studs. The Halfen Group, which is one of the leading manufacturers of special reinforcement, concrete anchoring, and façade fixing systems, is interested in achieving a uniform safety level for their products independent of the current national design provisions. Therefore, international design provisions for stud shear reinforcement are compared and differences are
highlighted. The German Construction Approval Z-15.1-213 for double-headed studs, the American
ACI 318-05 code in combination with the recommendations ACI 421.1R-99, and the Canadian
CSA A23.3-94 standard will be presented.
