Abstract:
This paper presents the study of the resistance of fly ash-based geopolymer concrete to sulphate attack. The test specimens were soaked in 5% sodium sulfate solution for chosen periods and the sulfate resistance of geopolymer concrete was studied by evaluating the changes in compressive strength, mass, and length of the specimens after sulfate exposure. The test variables included exposure period, curing time, and the concentration of alkaline activators used to produce the geopolymer concrete mixture. The test results obtained after three months of exposure show that there is no significant effect of sulfate attack on geopolymer concrete. The tests are continuing for a period of at least one year.
