Abstract:
Effective curing is an essential ingredient in the production of strong and durable concrete. This document describes current good curing practice. This Recommended Practice deals firstly with the general principles associated with the curing of concrete – both cast insitu and precast. Following discussion of the practical considerations involved, and reference to Australian Standard 3600 Concrete Structures, there is an appendix on Guidelines for the Use of Accelerated Curing Methods for the benefit of those readers who seek more knowledge of the subject. The methods of curing discussed in this document are those well established and widely used in Australia. It should be recognised that new techniques, particularly in the areas of accelerated curing, are constantly being developed. This document is not intended to inhibit such development.
