Abstract:
Describes a program of testing railroad ties that exhibited cracking due to alkali-aggregate reaction. The program was undertaken to determine a relationship between a system of visual condition rating and the strength of the ties. This relationship is meant to give approximate estimates of load capacity of similarly prestressed girder bridges.
