Abstract:
The paper describes the construction of an experimental dwelling house on rubber bearings. The structural system is made of masonry walls with reinforced concrete frames incorporated in masonry. The Base Isolation System is composed of three parts--isolators, dampers, and stoppers. The testing program is intended to study the efficiency of such a system in the earthquake protection of buildings.
